Carolina is a migrant lawyer and economist who has worked on human rights issues for 20+ years in different regions. She specialises on migration, asylum and gender. Carolina is the Executive Director of the International Detention Coalition. Previously she was Director of the Jesuit Refugee Service, Australia, CEO of a migrant women’s rights organisation in the UK, National Policy Director of the Refugee Council of Australia, and senior manager with the British Institute of Human Rights. Carolina has served on different boards in London, Bangkok, Brussels, Bogota and Sydney. Currently she is a board member of the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network and the Global Coalition on Migration. Carolina has ample experience of advocacy with the UN system and is a member of the UN Women’s Global Expert Working Group to address the human rights of women in the Global Compact for Migration.
